Paul Cézanne - Painting revolutionary/Inspiration
French artist Paul Cézanne was a Post-Impressionist painter with the driving concept of a varied painting style that changed the 20th century abstract arts. The formal qualities of his work that attract me the most include building form with color and great influences on cubism.
Personally, I feel that Cézanne’s work really stands out from other painters and is unique in that he is not afraid to think differently and have different perceptions on art. He displays distinctive sculptural dimensions, painting objects as if they have been observed from several angles and perspectives, a concept that inspires and motivates my artistic endeavors in painting. Many factors contribute to making him particularly special or noteworthy, but one of the most well-known would be the influence of his new views on 20th century art on Picasso and Braque’s cubism. Personally, my favorite piece, would be, “Still Life with Apples and Peaches”, 1905, because of how his unique styles of art and perceptions, referred by him as harmony parallel to nature. Even his subtle variations in colors and textures, and his tilting of the table slightly in the painting provide a different view of his composition, the way he meant for it to be. At first glance of his art pieces, I honestly did not see much that differed from other painters in the sense that Cézanne’s pieces were equally great. But upon researching more information and details about his work and what he truly attempted and succeeded to do, I can see why others have been greatly influenced. I myself have taken different perspectives on painting styles of two dimensional art through his influence. Cézanne truly did change the 20th century arts with his refreshing new ideas.
